England & Wales  This site will give you information about how to register a birth or death in England and Wales, how to go about getting married or form a civil partnership, how to obtain a birth certificate, a marriage certificate, a civil partnership certificate or a death certificate, and how to use the services at the Family Records Centre. The site can make available to you a great many records that will help you trace your family tree, they do not however do everything a genealogist might.
This is the web site of the General Register Office for Scotland (GROS). They  are part of the devolved Scottish Administration. They are responsible for the registration of  births, marriages, civil partnerships, deaths, divorces, and adoptions. They  run the Census and  use Census and other data to publish information about population and households. they are the main source of family history records.
